Crows Nesting Near Windows and Balconies: What Is Allowed?

Crows may nest near human dwellings.

The short answer

Many birds are protected by law, so check local rules and consult authorities or wildlife groups before removing nests. Discourage nesting by removing material and keeping areas tidy before the season. Avoid harming birds.

Considerations

• Legal protection varies.
• Nesting season sensitivity.
• Defensive behaviour.

Steps

1. Check local rules.
2. Avoid disturbing active nests.
3. Remove materials before nesting.
4. Consult wildlife authorities if needed.

When to call a professional

If the problem is widespread, keeps returning or you are unsure what you are dealing with, a professional inspection will save time and avoid wasted effort.
